You may have heard a lot about the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs everyday for better health.  But did you know that vitamins, minerals and other nutrients can actually play an important roll in preventing chronic disease?  According to Dr. Alan Kaplan, “There is growing evidence that specific nutrients can lower the risk for certain illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis and eye disease.”  For many Canadians it can be difficult to get all of the necessary vitamins and minerals through diet alone.
