Overactive bladder is a medical condition. Basically, there are problems with the nerve control of the bladder muscle itself and the bladder muscle has involuntary abnormal spasms or contractions. That gives the sensation of urgency to get to the bathroom, can cause frequency, going more often, getting up at night, but also in its end extreme, if you can’t get there quickly enough, can cause flooding or involuntary loss of urine.
